About Komwolf

Built by a merchant
who got tired of hearing no.

Komwolf grew out of Hemlock & Oak, our Canadian stationery business. It’s the commerce platform we wanted while we were busy running a shop.

How it started

How it started

It started
with a planner.

Hemlock & Oak grew from free digital downloads into a stationery business making planners and notebooks in Canada. Running that shop taught us what an online store needs to do, every day.

On Shopify, the details we cared about often meant another app, another monthly bill, or something we had to build ourselves. Product personalization. Reviews that felt like our brand. Shipping that fit the way we worked.

So Tia started building the tools. Over time, those individual fixes became a bigger idea: a platform shaped around the work of running a store.

What guides the work

The store should work
for the merchant.

Fewer workarounds.

We’re bringing everyday commerce tools into one place, so running a store involves fewer subscriptions and fewer moving parts.

Room for your taste.

Your products, pages and reviews should feel like they belong to your brand. The tools should help you make the store you have in mind.

Canadian, on purpose.

Built in British Columbia, with plans priced in CAD and our primary commerce database in Montréal. Some service providers operate outside Canada; we explain that distinction.

Fast by design.

A store should feel quick to browse. Page weight and performance are part of the work, and we measure them as we build.

The people behind it

A small team.
Close to the work.

Komwolf is designed and built by Tia and Marc. We work closely with our founding merchants, learning from real stores and making the next version better.

Tia

Founder · Product & engineering

A developer and the founder of Hemlock & Oak. She’s spent years on both sides of a store: shipping code and shipping orders.

Marc

Engineering

Marc works with Tia on Komwolf’s architecture and code, turning the needs of a working shop into tools other merchants can use.

You know your store.
We’d like to hear about it.

We’re bringing on a small founding cohort of Canadian merchants, with a conversation about each store before a launch date.
